Spring Break - Break for Who?

Ok, so please explain to me why exactly is it 90 degrees in APRIL?  Now it's toooo hot for the children to go out and play midday.  So again, I am outnumbered 5 to1.  Good thing I am a fighter.  I put on my gloves at 7:30 this morning - (they slept in)

  • My oldest wants to go get her hair done and eyebrows waxed.
  • The 15 yr old wants to go to Busch Gardens - we have passes, but again it's 90 + degrees.  Long lines, heat, and toddlers - NOT Good!.
  • The 8 yr old wants to do Everything.  Go to Wallyworld, Target, just go outside.  Did I mention he has asthma and everything outside is coated yellow?  Is he trying to have an asthma attack?
  • My 5 yr old thinks is would be just lovely to go flower shopping and go get her nails done.  YES - she is 5!
  • Mr. I am all boy & totally 3 seems to think he should race all 50 of his matchbox cars down the stairs.

They're on Spring Break!!! I guess my break will start on Tuesday when they go back to school.  My 8 yr old just asked me if he could go outside again -  It's 10 min to 12.  ding. ding. Round 6 has just started.

Don't say you weren't warned. . .

My name is Dawn Morning. No, it is Not an April Fool's joke, that is my actual name that I was given at birth. I am a single mother of five. There are three boys and two girls. At current, they are 3, 5, 8, 15, and 17. And of course let's not forget our toy poodle, Mr. Phabulous (he's only mine when does something wrong) and our goldfish,Presto!

Upon the advice of a dear friend, I have decided to begin a blog. Personally, I think it's so they can have a record of exactly when I officially lost it. Jokes on them, I am not certain I ever really had it. This blog will be about our daily adventures when a single mom raises 5 children by herself.

My three year old son is developmentally delayed, so please take a moment to imagine how frustrating it is to be three and communicating as if you are 1 or 2. In the last coupe of months, we have gotten a grasp of a few actual words! We still use a lot of toddler sign lanuage. I had a meeting with his teacher earlier this week to discuss his progress. We get together monthly to share and compare notes on his behavior and little quirks at home vs. school. He kind of "leaves" the moment every now and again. Possibility that might be mini seizures - Ohhh grrreeaaatttt!

Next there is my five going on twenty-five year old daughter. This girl is almost indescribable. She has eyes like one of those 'precious moments' figurines. And she knows how to use them at the ripe age of 5! One of her favorite saying is " 1, 2, 3 - all eyes on me." She is a Daisy Girl Scout. She would like to wear a dress or skirt each and Everyday. Did I mention she was rather feminine and kind of prissy???

My eight year old is the most loving young man with a grown-man sized appetite. Thank God he is active or he'd be a roly poly teddy bear. This child does not debate if he wants seconds -he considers thirds. He is involved in Cub Scouts, Soccer, and the Chess Club.

Exhausted yet??  There's two more. . . and they are TEENAGERS!!!!!!

Those two need their very own entry. I will tell you about them in the next blog.  So, stay tuned there's so much more to come.
